The deed refers to Seth Curlin as living in Wake County, but also refers to Franklin County in a joined clause (see astrisk in body of deed). The dual reference is unexplained. The land is adjacent to lands owned by William Mathias, John Boyer, Isaac and Gill. WAKE COUNTY, NC REGISTER OF DEEDS DEED BOOK 3, PAGE 237-238 10 APR 1819 / REG. 10 JAN 1820 Dempsey Fuller to Seth Curlin Deed This indenture made this tenth day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and Nineteen Between Dempsey Fuller of the County of Wake and State of North Carolina of the one part and Seth Curlin of the County of Wake of Franklin* and State of aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Dempsey Fuller for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred twenty nine dollars and sixty cents to him in hand paid by the said Seth Curlin the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged hath given and granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain and sell unto the said Seth Curlin (?) tract or parcel of land lying in Wake County on the waters of Horse Creek containing by estimation one hundred and sixty one acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows, viz., Beginning on an elm on bank of the Branch now William Mathiers corner Thence west sixty poles to a corner post oak in John Boyers line, Thence North with said line 132 poles to a red oak in Isaac line thence east with said Gills line, 262 poles to a black oak, Thence south forty nine poles to a black oak, Thence starting south, 58 degrees, west on agreed line of marked trees, 136 poles to Mathias corner pine, thence on agreed line, north 62 degrees west 40 poles, to a sassafras, Mathia's corner, on the bank of the Branch, Thence down the various courses of said Branch to the beginning and the said Dempsey Fuller doth for himself and his heirs ??? warrant and forever defend the above granted land and promises, unto the said Seth Curlin his heirs and assigns forever, agains all lawful claim of claims of all or any person or persons whatsoever.
