John Gill            §  This Indenture made on the 30th day of January A.D.
    to               §  1863 by and between John Gill of the first part and
Elizabeth A. Jackson §  Elizabeth A. Jackson of the second part, all of the 
County of Wake and State of No. Carolina.  Witnesseth, that the said John Gill 
for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which he has and 
bears towards his daughter Elizabeth Ann Jackson, wife of L. W. Jackson, hath 
given granted, conveyed and delivered unto his said daughter Elizabeth Ann 
Jackson her heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying 
and being in the county and State aforesaid, on the south side of Neuse River, 
and on the west side of the road leading to Parker’s Bridge, it being a part 
of the tract of land given to the said John Gill by his father Jesse Gill, 
viz:  Beginning at a hickory formerly a pine, the N.W. corner of said tract of 
land, thence North 54 ¼ degrees east 50 ¾ poles to a stake & pointers, thence 
south 36 degrees east 80 poles to a rock on the said road, thence south west 
along the road 112 poles to where a big path leaves said road, thence a north 
west course with the path 113 poles to a corner pine, standing on the south 
side of the path, thence north 1 ½ degrees each 40 ¾ from the pine to the 
beginning, containing according to measurement fifty acres be the same more or 
less, with all and every the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise 
appertaining to the same And the said John Gill do hereby covenant to and with 
the said Elizabeth Ann Jackson to warrant and forever defend the right and 
title of the said lands to her the said Elizabeth A. Jackson her heirs and 
assigns – in witness thereof the said John Gill doth hereunto his hand and 
seal the day and year first above written

         Wake County }   February 20th 1863.
The Execution of the foregoing Deed was this day duly acknowledged before me 
by John Gill the Grantor thereto – Let the same be Registered.

Registered in the Registers Office of Wake County in Book No. 24 – page 55, 
the 23rd day of February 1863.

Additional Comments:
Deed from John Gill to his daughter Elizabeth Ann Holloway Gill, wife of 
Willis Leonidas Jackson.  This 50 acres in Wake County appears to be that same 
tract of land conveyed by John Gill to his son William J. Gill in 1856 before 
his death.  Lt. William J. Gill, CSA, had died 7 Oct 1862 in Frederick, 
Maryland.
