Between Edward Hocut of the one part and Rightman Hilliard of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Edward Hocut, for the sum thirty dollars to him in hand paid by the aforesaid Hilliard hath bargained and sold, and by these presents doth bargain Sell, Convey and deliver unto the said Wrightman Hilliard his heirs etc. a certain tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the County of Wake containing sixteen acres of land, be the same more or less. Beginning at a Black Jack, runing North One hundred and forty four pole, to a red Oak, thence East 18 pole to a hickory thence South 144 pole, to pointers thence to the Begining. To have and to hold; the said land and premises, with all the appurtenances, to the same belonging unto him the said Wrightman Hilliard his heirs etc. forever. and I the said Edward Hocut, doth for himself, his heirs etc. warrant and forever defend the right and title of the above described land, to be free and clear of all incumberances whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said Edward Hocut hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written. Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of O. Traywick and Fulton Johnston Signed Edward Hocut Elianor (+ her mark) Hocut State of North Carolina, Wake County, November Term, 1809 The Court ordered that John Hinton Esq. be appointed to take the private examination of Eleanor Hocut, touching the execution of this Deed and make report to this court. Test. Wm. Hill, Clk. I do hereby certify that in Obedience to the above Order, I have taken the examination of the above named Eleanor Hocut and that she did, separate and apart from her said husband, acknowlede that she did freely and voluntarily execute the said deed.
