Register of Deeds Office Bk N16, page 248 15 April 1844 Nancy DAVIS, & others to John HARRISON This Indenture made the 15th da of April A.D. 1844 between Nancy DAVIS wife and widow of Jese DAVIS, late of the county of Wake and State of North Carolina and Mary ROCHEL wife and widow of William ROCHELL of the County & State aforesaid of the first part and John HARRISON of the second part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of thirty five dollard to us in hand paid by the said John HARRISON doth given granted & bargained and sold and do by these presents give grant bargain and sell unto the siad John HARRISON, once certain small --- or tract of undivided land lying and being in the county and state aforesaid known and described as follows -- one ninth part of the dower of Lydia JOPLIN, Dec’d and conveyed in tract by Mordeci JOPLIN one of the legal heirs and representatives of James JOPLIN, dec’d of the county and state aforesaid unto the aforesaid unto the aforesaid Jesse DAVIS and William ROCHEL for valuable consideration & for the purpose described in said conveyance was witnessed by Alexander MOBLEY & Zachariah MOBLEY and is now on record at the City of Raleigh in the County of Wake and we the said Nancy DAVIS and Mary ROCHEL hath taken the responsibility to convey the said --- of land unto John HARRISON, being fully authorized by our several children to do so which is also on record and furthermore by reasons of these presents we the said Nancy DAVIS and Mary ROCHEL do bind ourselves and our heirs to warrant and defend the lawful right and title the aforesaid --- (JE?) one nineth part of dowery of land of Lydia JOPLIN dec’d ( and conveyed by her husband James JOPLIN, dec’d among his lawful heirs and representatives) unto John HARRISON and his heirs forever clear and free from the claim or claims of all person or persons whatsoever. In Testimony whereof we the said Nancy DAVIS and Mary ROCHEL hath hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this day and date first above written in the presence of: Wm. CRENSHAW Mary (her V mark) ROCHEL State of North Carolina Wake county Court of Pleas and Quarter Session May Term 1844 This deed was exhibited in Open Court rec’d the Execution thereof duly proven by the Oath of W.
