Rollins of St. Louis, MO to Henry Johnson of Wake Co., NC, dated April 4, 1919, owner (1998) Mr. Steven G. Weaver, 914 S. Main St., Apt. 2, Belmont, NC, 28012: James M. Rollins Main 3089 Rudolph Schneider Central 644 E. A. Halter Rollins, Schneider, & Halter Attorneys at Law 425-31 Title Guaranty Building S.W. Cor. Seventh and Chestnut Sts. St. Louis, April 4, 1919 Mr. Henry Johnson Morrisville, N.C. My Dear Cousin Henry:- I was sorry that I could not get back to spend the night with you, but the weather was so chilly that I really did not feel safe in getting out again, otherwise I fully intended to come down and spend the night with you all. I had a very severe attack of the influenza, but the trip down South did me a great deal of good and I am back at the office for work again. You spoke to me about buying my old home place. When I was down there the man who is now on the place told me he would give me $1500 for the place, $500 cash and $500 in one and two years. I don't know whether I could get him to let me change that offer, but as he has not yet paid any cash down, possibly I would be at liberty to deal with you. I had much rather for you to have possession of the place than anybody else in the world because I have family sentiment about the possession of the place, and I would feel that it was continued in the family if you would get it. For this reason, if I can get out of the offer made as above, I will sell you the place for $1250. I consider the building and improvements on the place worth about that much not to say anything about the land. It is a good place for a country store, and the land is all right for tobacco and cotton. Please let me know if you are interested, and oblige, as ever, Your cousin, James M. Rollins JMR/MF P.S. Please remember us kindly to all the family and to brother Clements.
