Daniel Beckwith The Standard of Raleigh, Nov. 12, 1862 DIED, in Petersburgh, Va. on the 2nd of October, 1862, of typhoid fever, SERGEANT DANIEL G. BECKWITH of North Carolina, son of GREEN BECKWITH, ESQ. of Wake County, in the 22nd year of age, being another added to the long list of martyrs in the cause of Southern independence. He volunteered in the company raised at Holly Spring (CAPT. RAND'S Company D, 26th Regiment, N. C. T.) and was made orderly sergeant of that company. He participated in the Battle of Newbern and was taken prisoner and carried to Fort Columbus, N. Y., and subsequently to Fort Deleware. He was exchanged and returned to his regiment.
