Lack Raleigh Standard,27 May, 1863 DIED, on the 11th of May, 1863, in the hospital at Richmond, Va., of wounds received in the recent battles near Fredericksburg, LIEUTENANT JOHN P. LACK. The deceased was a citizen of Raleigh, and at the beginninng of hostilities volunteered as a soldier in Company D, 1st Regiment, N. C. Troops, and was made Orderly Sergeant, in which capacity he distinguished himself in many hard- fought battles, and was promoted to Lieutenant for his gallantry in the great battle of Sharpsburg. LIEUTENANT LACK leaves a young wife and child. His body we learn was buried in the cemetery in Richmond.
