C. The Weekly Standard of May 15, 1861 CAREY HOME GUARD OF WAKE COUNTY The citizens of Carey and vicinity met at Page's Monday the 28th ult. for the purpose of forming a "Home Guard," an organization deemed necessary to the maintenance of order, during the present distracted state of the country, as well as to protect the home and property of the citizens in our community and surrounding country. The meeting was organized by calling CALVIN J. ROGERS, ESQ. to the chiar, and appointing ALBERT H. DOWELL, Secretary. CAPT. R. W. YORK made a few appropriate remarks. Animating addresses were also made by COL. WETHERSPOON, CAPT. ALLEN M. B. BARBEE, and others. The following gentlement were elected officers of the "Home Guard." CALVIN J. ROGERS, Captain; JAS. C.
