Wake County, NC - John Green Revolutionary War Pension, 1832 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ June 6, 1934 Mrs. M.T. Norris Raleigh NC Dear Madam: Reference is made to your request for the record of John Green, a Revolutionary War soldier who was pensioned from Wake County, North Carolina. The data which follow were obtained from papers on file in the pension claim, S.6917, based upon the military service of John Green. He was born in April, 1753. The place of his birth and the names of his parents were not given. He enlisted sometime before September, 1780, place not stated, and served at various times, amounting to more than a year as private with the North Carolina Troops under Captains Hodge and Allen, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Owen and Colonel William McCanley, was in the battle of Guilford and was discharged November 9, 1781. He was allowed pension on his application executed in August, 1832 at which time he was living in Wake County, North Carolina.
