Wake County, NC - Vincent King Revolutionary War Pension, 1833 ~~~~~~~~~~ February 13, 1930 Miss Lola King Thomaston, Georgia Dear Madam: I advise you from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim W.4007 it appears that Vincent King was born in 1756 in Virginia, near the Rappahanock River. While a resident of Wake County, North Carolina about seven miles from Raleigh where he had moved when quite young, he enlisted about 1781 and served three months in Captain Chalmers'or Chamber's North Carolina Company. In the same year he enlisted and served two months in Captain Bledsoe's North Carolina Company and was in a skirmish with the British and Tories near Brown Marsh. He enlisted in June 1781 or 1782 and served about eighteen months as a private in Captain Brevard's North Carolina Company. He was allowed pension on his application executed August 8, 1833 at which time he was a resident of Wake County, North Carolina. He died August 9, 1836 in Wake County, North Carolina. The soldier married November 10, 1784 in Wake County, Margaret Riley, the daughter of John Riley (this name also appears as Rayla). In 1839 it was stated that Vincent and Margaret King had a number of children and that they were all grown but no names were given. Very truly yours, Earl D.
