            ATTORNEY GENERAL
   -- On Wednesday evening last, the two houses of the General Assembly elected
COL. SION H. ROGERS, of Wake County, Attorney General of the State, by a large 
majority. Col. Rogers commands the 47th N.C. Troops and was engaged on 
Wednesday in the battle near Goldsboro'. His election as Attorney General is a 
deserved compliment to his gallantry in the field, while the State has secured 
an able prosecuting officer.
