GEORGE E. BADGER leave this City [Raleigh] today, for the purpose of entering upon the duties of the Cabinet appointment, recently tendered him by PRESIDENT HARRISON. We confess we are agreeable disappointed at his acceptance of this post, knowing as we do, how totally indifferent his is to distinction of any kind -- an indifference which would rather lead him to shun, rather than Court notice --convinced that, in a pecuniary point of view, he could not, with his lucrative practice at home, be the gainer . We naturally supposed he would decline the honor. And we are confident now, that in yielding his assent, he has been influence more by a solemn sense of duty, than by any views of personal aggrandizement. So long as the Officers of the Country are selected from men of this disinterested cast, there is no danger of their prostituting their trusts to corrupt purposes. MR. BADGER needs no eulogy at our hands, for wherever known he is properly appreciated. We must say, however, that as distinguished as are his fellow- members of the Cabinet for talent and virtue, there is not one of them his superior; and this will be the deliberate judgment of this whole country in less than 12 months. -- Ral.
