Browning directly after the killing came here and put himself in the sheriff's hands, saying he had either to kill or be killed. He was given a hearing last week, and admitted to bail in $500. The jury tonight returned a true bill against him for murder in the first degree. The bill as so drawn charged murder in the first degree, a very unusual procedure. Browning was immediately arrested and put in jail without bail privileges.
