Mr. James Leonard Brown, son of Mrs. Lena Orr and the late Will Orr, was born 
in McConnell, South Carolina January 24, 1913.  He departed this life Monday 
June 4, 1979.

He was a member of Laodecia United Church of Christ and served in the US Navy 
for two years.  After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, he was 
employed by Amtrak until his retirement.

Surviving his wife, Mrs Willie Hazel Brown; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Brown 
Malloy both of Raleigh, NC; one son, Charles E Hope, Los Angeles Calif, one 
step-son, George Bryant of Raleigh, NC.

Four sisters, Mrs. Flora Orr Gregory of Philadelphia, Pa, Mrs. Helen Orr 
Jones, Elizabeth Orr Carolina and Mrs. Beulah Orr Craig all of Washington, DC.

Four brothers, Uylessee Orr of Washington, DC; George Orr of Philadelphia, Pa, 
Maxwell Orr and William Orr both of McConnell, SC.

Two grandsons, Clarence L Brown of Raleigh, NC and Charles E Hope of Los 
Angeles, California.  One great-grandchild, Barbara Jean Malloy of Raleigh, 
Two aunts, Mrs. Madeline Williams of Kansas City, Mo, and Mrs. Helen Green of 
Philadelphis, Pa, and a host of relatives and friend.
