Wake County, NC - Obituary of Addie Worth Bagley Daniels, 1943 Raleigh, NC - Dec 19 Wife of Former Navy Secretary Called by Death Mrs. Josephus Daniels, 74, wife of the former Secretary of the Navy died at the family home Sunday. The former Addie Worth Bagley, daughter of a Confedertate Army officer and a granddaughter of Jonathan Worth, Governor of North Carolina from 1865 to 1868, married Josephus Daniels in 1888. Survivors include her husband, publisher of the Raleigh News and Observer, Secretary of the Navy during the World War I, and former Ambassador to Mexico, and four sons, Capt. Josephus Daniels Jr., Lt. Col. Worth Bagley Daniels, Jonathan Daniels and Frank A. Daniels. Mrs. Daniels was president of the Navy Red Cross during the first World War at a time when Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt was vice-president.
