   The press has seldom been called upon to announce to the public the loss of 
a citizen who, in the circle of his acquaintances, was more generally beloved 
in life and lamented, in death, than BRIGADIER GENERAL HARTT.
   This gentleman died on the 27th ultimo, after an illness of 15 days, in the 
55th year of his age. He has left a wife who will long feel and sorely lament 
the death of her beloved husband, together with four children who are yet too 
young to feel the loss, and never can become full sensible of the worth of the 
parent of whom they are now deprived.
