[sic] Hoke was laid to rest here this morning in Oakwood Cemetery after services at the Church of the Good Shepherd. The church was filled to its capacity, and several hundred were turned away. The floral tributes were the most beautiful at any funeral held in Raleigh in some time. General Julian S. Carr, commander of the North Carolina division, United Confederate Veterans, led a long line of veterans in the procession to the cemetery. General Bennett H. Young, commander in chief of the United Confederate Veterans, sent a message of condolence. [Note: The obituary reads R.W. Hoke but it is believed this should have been J.F.
