T. M. JORDAN TAKEN BY DEATH – Widely Known Raleigh Physician Passes Away in Fayetteville- Fayetteville, June 29 – Dr. Thomas M. Jordan, 77, well known Raleigh physician, formerly head of the epileptic department of the North Carolina State Hospital, died early this morning from a heart attack at the home of his son, Dr. William S. Jordan, in this city. The funeral services will be held in Raleigh Saturday morning at 11 o’clock from the Edenton Street Methodist Church. The remains will be at his sons residence here from Friday afternoon until Saturday morning. Dr. Jordan was a native of Orange county. He practiced his profession in Greene county. He was with the State Board of Health in the department of medical inspection of schools for almost two years, 1916 and 1917. He then was for a short while health officer in Nash county, giving up the work then to be com superintendent of the epileptic colony at the Central State Hospital in Raleigh. [Dix Hill] After his retirement a few years ago, he had spent his winter in Florida and summers in Raleigh. Surviving are Mrs. Jordan and the following children: Dr. W. S. Jordan, Fayetteville; Lieutenant Commander L.L. Jordan, United States Navy, retired, Redlands, California; Lieutenant Commander J. D. Jordan, U. S. N. San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Claude S. Tate, Littleton; Mrs. Charles E. Bell, Gainesville, Fla.; Mrs. J. T. Lazar, Florence, S. C.; Mrs. D. H. R. Wiggin [Wigg] Norfolk, Va.; and Miss Julia Jordan, Raleigh. INSERT [this is what is in the article] Members of the Raleigh Academy of Medicine and the Wake County Medical Society will be the honorary pallbearers and the following will serve as active pallbearers: Dr. A. C. Bulla, Dr. G. M. Cooper, Dr. Charles Wilkerson, Dr. R. P. Noble, Dr. T. L. Young and Mr. Young. He specialized in neuropsychiatric diseases. His medical training was obtained at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Baltimore, from which he graduated in 1881, obtaining his State license in the same year. Surviving are Mrs. Jordan, who before marriage, was Miss Ida Mae Sasser, and the following children: Dr. W. S. Jordan Fayetteville; Lieutenant Commander cisco, Cal.; Mrs. Claude S. Jordan were held yesterday morning at 11 o’clock at Edenton Street Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Eugene C. Few. The choir rendered the hymns “Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand” and “How Firm a Foundation.” In his prayer, the minister voiced gratitude to God for the useful life Dr. Jordan lived, for “his life of unselfishness, for the unmeasured good his services were to an unfortunate class, for the ambition, which was such a vital part of his life, to be of the largest possible service to the greatest possible number of people.” Members of the Raleigh Academy of Medicine and Wake County medical society served as honorary pallbearers. The following were active pallbearers; Dr. A. C. Bulla, Dr. George M. Cooper, Dr. Charles Wilkerson, Dr. R. P Noble, Dr. T. L Young and W. J. Young. Internment was in Oakdale cemetery. There was a large attendance of friends and relatives at the funeral. Surviving are Mrs. Jordan, who before her marriage was Miss Ida Mae Sasser, and the following children: Dr. W. S.
