MARY ALLYN WATKINS KASE

   Mrs. Mary Watkins Kase, wife of the late James Dewitt Kase of 232 E. Park 
Drive, Raleigh, N.C., died in Rex Hospital, Raleigh, on Thursday afternoon, May 
5. Although she had been a patient in the hospital for several weeks, her death 
came unexpectedly.

   Mrs. Kase was the youngest daughter of the late Darden J. and Rebecca Moore 
Watkins of Franklin and Southampton County. She was educated in the Greensboro 
Female College, Greensboro, N.C., where she met her future husband, who at the 
time of his death some years ago was vice president of W.H. King Drug Company of 
Raleigh. She was a sister of George O. Watkins of Franklin, who survives, and of 
the late R.E.L. Watkins, Franklin lawyer and former Mayor.

   Other survivors are four nieces, Mrs. Rebecca Darden Stone of Suffern, N.Y., 
Mrs. Pattie Lee Darden Worth of Albuquerque, N. Mex., Miss Mary Watkins Darden 
of Raleigh, N.C., and Mrs. Elizabeth Darden Barney of New York City, two 
nephews, Laurence Eley Darden of New York City and Robert E. Darden of 
Orangeburg, S.C.

   Funeral services for Mrs. Kase were conducted from the Brown-Wynne Funeral 
Home, Raleigh, on Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock by Rev. James Sprunt, D.D., 
pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Raleigh. The remains were interred in 
Mount Lawn Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were J.R. Brockwell, Earnest Douglas, Remo LeForte, Harry 
Montgomery, Moffett Moore and Homer C. Starling.

   Attending the funeral from Franklin were Mr. and Mrs. George O. Watkins, Mr. 
and Mrs. H.W. Stephenson, and C.C. Vaughan, 3rd.
