        SAD CASUALTY
   We are pained to state that MR. W. J. LOUGEE, of this city, was so injured 
on Wednesday last, on his farm some ten miles east of this by the falling of a 
tree, that he died on Wednesday night. He was girdling and burning trees in 
one of his fields, when a tree fell upon him, by which he was shockingly 
mangled. He was one of our most industrious and worthy citizens.
