Funeral service was June 23 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Youngsville. Burial was in the church cemetery. He was born March 10, 1925, in Latta, S.C., son of the late Phammie Love Lane. He retired from Colonial Stores Inc., where he was employed as a diesel mechanic. He enlisted in the Army at age 16 and was a World War II veteran. He was an avid boatsman and a motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of Pilot Baptist Church in Raleigh. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Pearce Love; and a brother Elwood Love. Surviving: daughter and son-in- law, Brenda Love Gaffney and Marcus of Raleigh; grandson, Michael Gaffney and friend Beth Roye of North Charleston, S.C., half brother Ronald "Sonny" Lane of Latta, S.C., brother-in-law Charles "Smiley" Pearce and wife Ethel of Raleigh, sister-in-law, Larsetine Pearce of Wendell, six nieces.
