Wed. Mar. 10,  1830  North Carolina Journal
   DIED, on Thursday night last, at Raleigh, the RIGHT REVEREND JOHN S. 
RAVENSCROFT, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of North Carolina. In the death of 
this good and great man, the cause of pure and undefiled religion has lost an 
able and zealous advocate -- the Episcopal Church of North Carolina has lost 
its brightest ornament, its pious and venerated head -- society has lost its 
friend, its guide, its instructor; and the tongue of the most eloquent 
preacher of the day is laid low to dust.
