The Raleigh Standard, 24 Aug. 1859
   FATAL AND DISTRESSING ACCIDENT -- On Friday last, HENRY, the eldest son of 
the HON. KENNETH RAYNER, residing in this City, repaired with his little 
brother to the woods north of his father's house, for the purpose of hunting 
with his gun. In a short time the report of the gun was heard, and soon after 
the shocking intelligence was received that HENRY was mortally wounded. He was 
found a few minutes afterward, lifeless, having accidentally shot himself, the 
load of the gun entering beneath his chin and passing out through the crown of 
his head. He was a sprightly and promising boy. His funeral took place at the 
residence of his father of Saturday evening at five o'clock. His school-mates, 
the pupils of MR. LOVEJOY'S Academy, who were much attached to him, attended 
his remains to the grave.
