Wake County, NC - George Pearce to Caroline Perry, 1866 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ State of North Carolina Wake County KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, that we, George Pearce and John Ray, are held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina in the full sum of ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS, current money, to be paid to the State aforesaid for which payment, well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, and firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this the 14th day of February A.D. 1866. The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas the above bounden George Pearce, hath made application for a LICENSE for a MARRIAGE to be celebrated between him and Miss Caroline Perry, of the County, aforesaid: Now, in case it shall not hereafter appear that there is any lawful cause or impediment to obstruct the said Marriage, then the above obligation shall be void; otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
