Wake County, NC - Will & Estate Records File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Melanie Atkins John Atkins Junior Will of 1781, Transcribed from copy obtained from NC State Archives State of North Carolina Wake County In the Name of God Amen I John Atkins Junior of the State and County aforesaid being very Sick and Weak of Body but thanks be to Almighty God of perfect mind and memory, and calling to mind the uncertainty of [of] this Life and that it appointed for all mankind once to die, do make and Ordain this to be and contain my last Will and Testament, Principally and first of all I recommend my Soul in to the hands of Almighty God who gave it to me in great Hopes to receive the same again at the great Resurrection through the merits of my Blessed Redeamor and that my Body may be decently Buried in Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter Named and respecting what Worldly Estate it hath been Please God to bestow on me or Bless me with in this life I dispose of in the following manner (to wit, Imprimis after all my Just Debts are Discharged I give and Bequeath to my Honoured Father John Atkins all and every part of my Estate Real and Personall of what kindsoever to him and his Heirs forever. Item I hereby nominate and appoint my Loving Brothers William Atkins and Nicholas Atkins my whole and sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament hereby Revoaking and making Null and Void all other Will or Wills by me made acknowledging this & this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Eleventh day of October A Dom. 1781 John (his X mark) Atkins Jr. {Seal} Signed Sealed Published And Declared by the Testator To be his last will and Testament in Presence of J.
