Transcribed from copy received from NC State Archives In the name of God Amen. The 14th day of July One Thousand eight hundred & Sixty Two. I Henry G Atkins of the County of Wake & State of North Carolina being in my usual health of body and of Sound Mind and Memory do make this my last Will and Testament. At the Same time utterly revoking all former wills made by me declaring this to be my last will and testament. Item 1st, I bequeath my body to the grave & my Soul to the God Who gave it. And furthermore it is my desire that my body be buried in a Manner suitable to the wishes of my family and friends and that the expenses thereof together with all my just debts be paid out of my estate. 2nd I leave unto my beloved wife Sarah Atkins My tract of land whereon I now reside during her Natural life and at her death I wish it Sold and the proceeds arising from Such Sale to be equally divided between my children 3rd I loan unto my beloved wife Sarah Atkins all of my household and Kitchen furniture of every description & all of my stock of every description. Also my one horse carriage & cart during her widowhood except the following named articles which I give to her in fee Simple (to wit) One bed bedstead & necessary covering One Cow and Calf one Loom & one press.
