All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Watson beverly_wat@msn.com March 10, 2010, 7:34 pm Source: Lds Microfilmed Original Records Written: June 7, 1791 Recorded: September 1791 Wake County, North Carolina Will Book 2, pgs 167, 168, 169, 170, 171 Last Will and Testament of Woodson Daniel decd In the Name of God, Amen, I Woodson Daniel Senr. of Wake County in the State of North Carolina, through the Mercy of God in perfect sense and Memory but being but weak and low in Body calling to Mind the Mortality of this State and the uncertainty thereof, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, hereby Revoking and Disannulling every other Will heretofore made by me and Confirming this only to be my last Will and Testament, first I Commend my Spirit to God who gave it hoping Through the Merit and Mediation of Jesus Christ to be received by him into Glory, my body I commend to the Earth from whence it was taken to be Decently buried at the Discretion of my Executors hereafter to be Named and appointed in hopes of its Resurrection to Eternal Glory at the last Day, and as to – what Worldly goods it hath Pleased God to endow me with, I Will and Dispose them in the following manner, Item I give and divise unto my beloved wife Nancy Daniel the Tract of Land thereon I now live, Containing one hundred and Sixty acres, also I give and bequeath unto my wife three Negroes towit) one negroe fellow called and known by the Name of Jacob one negroe wench called and known by the Name of Issabell, one negroe wench called and known by the Name of Dinah together with all my Household furniture, during her Natural Life and after her Death, the aforesaid property to be equally divided between all my Children, I also give and bequeath unto my Wife, all my Stock of Cattle & Hogs together with One Horse, which She is to Choose out of my Stock of Horses. Item I give and bequeath unto my Son John Daniel, two Negroes called known by the Names following towit) Will and Milley to him and his Heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my Son in Law William Clemments and my Daughter Elizabeth Clemments, two Negroes called known by the Names following (towit Patt and Nathan to them and their Heirs forever; Item I give and bequeath unto my Son in Law James Parker, and my Daughter Charlotte Parker two Negroes called and known by the following towit) Alice and Hannah, to them and their Heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my Son David Daniel two Negroes called and known by the Names following towit) Ben, and Patt Daughter of Bess, to him & his Heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my Son in Law Spencer D--- Talley, and my Daughter Winney Talley, two Negroes, called known by the Names following Towit) Tabitha & Isaac to them & their Heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my Son Woodson Daniel two Negroes called known by the Name following (towit) Jude and Joe to him and his Heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my Son James Daniel two Negroes called & known by the Names following (towit) Betty & Willis, I also give and divise unto my Son James Daniel one hundred and Sixty Acres of Land on Neuse River Adjoining the Tract whereon I now live to him and his Heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Frankey Daniel two Negroes called and known by the Names following towit) Rebeccah and Jem, (son of Jude) to her & her Heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Polley Daniel, two Negroes called and known by the Names following (towit) Issabell (Daughter to Dinah) and Cook, to her and her Heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my Son William Daniel Three Negroes called and known by the Names following towit) Bess, Hubbard, and Daniel, to him and his Heirs forever. Item I give and Devise unto the Heir of William Little decd One Tract of Land Lying or being in the County of Granville adjoining the Lands of Thomas Clemments, Willis Tucker, John Story and John Comer Peek, Containing two hundred acres, to him and his Heirs forever. Item, My Will and desire is that my half the Grist and Saw Mills, together with the residue of my Property not heretofore given away, be Sold in order to Satisfy my Debts, I also Will that one hundred acres of Land be Sold with the Mill and Ferry Twelve Months Credit allowed. Lastly I do nominate and appoint my Friends William Reeves, Thomas Thomlinson, and my Son John Daniel Executors, and my Wife Nancy Daniel Executrix to this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and disannulling, all and every other Will heretofore by me made, In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this Seventh day of June One thousand Seven hundred and Ninety One, Signed Sealed Published and declared by the said Woodson Daniel the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the Presence of Us who have at his request set our names as Witnesses and in the Presence of each other.
