Devised February 10, 1786, Proven March Term, 1786. In the name of God Amen, I Edward Green of Wake County in the State of North Carolina, being of sound and perfect mind and memory (blessed be God) do this tenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty six, make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following; that is to say, First, I Give and bequeath to my dearly beloved Wife Jemima Green during her natural life or widowhood all my Lands, household furniture, stock of Horses, Cattle, Hogs, etc. also all my working tools of every kind which I possess (except as is hereafter accepted). I give and bequeath to my oldest Daughter Mary Auston five shillings specie. I give and bequeath to my oldest son John Green five shillings specie. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Fanny Norris five shillings specie. I give and bequeath to my son Silas Green five shillings specie. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Betty Parnel five shillings specie. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Sally Pool five shillings specie. I give and bequeath to my son William Green five shillings specie. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Winney Hughes five shillings specie. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Arcade Shelton five shillings specie. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Alleythear Green one feather bed and furniture. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Gilley Green one feather bed and furniture. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Nanny Green one feather bed and furniture. I give to my Daughter Patty Green one feather bed and furniture. My Will and Desire is that a direct line may be run across my land from East to West, Dividing the same as equal as possible that is the land which is before mentioned to my beloved Wife during her life or widowhood, and the lower part or half of said Land I Give and bequeath to my son Joseph Green at his Mother’s Marriage or Decease, the upper part or half of said Land, I also give and bequeath to my youngest son Isom Green at his mother’s Marriage or Decease, if it God that one of said boys should die before they arrive to 21 years of Age or have a lawful Heir, that the whole of the Land be the property of the surviving Brother. Also my will and Desire is that my beloved Wife Jemima Green shall or may give any of my personal estate to any of her Children at her discretion. And I hereby make and ordain my beloved Wife Jemima Green Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I the said Edward Green have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal the day and year first above Written.
