Wake County, NC - Will of Amanda Hobbs, 1922 ----¤¤¤---- Amanda Hobbs, b. 27 Jan 1852 d. 27 June 1925 - buried at Clydes Chappel Daughter to Schezaid and James William Henderson Hobbs, of Marks Creek, Wake Co., NC North Carolina Wake County I, Amanda Hobbs, of the aforesaid county and state, being of sound mind, but considering this uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament: First, my executor, and herein after named, shall give my body decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my friends and relatives, and erect a tombstone at my grave like the one at the grave of my sister India Hobbs, and pay for same, and pay all the funeral expenses, together with all my just debts, out of the first moneys which may come into his hands belonging to my estate. Second, I give and devise to my niece, Mary Alice Strickland, the lot and house where I now live in the town of Wendell, to have and to hold her natural life or as long as she lives, provided further that if she should come to want for the necessities of life, she may sell some and covert the proceeds to her maintenance and her upkeep, provided further that a committee of three disinterested parties is to be appointed by the Clerk of Superior Court or some Justice of the Peace of Wake county, as to whether she is so in need and want to justify said sale, which shall be final. I also bequeath and give her all my household and kitchen furniture of every kind and description whatever, to use and dispose of as she may see fit. Third, my will and request is, that and provided said lot and house in which I now live, and bring the same given to Mary Alice Strickland, is not sold and conveyed by her to supply her needs and wants during her life, that at her death the same be sold and the money derived for the same be equally divided between Archie Strickland, Henry Hobbs and Jimmie Strickland, my three nephews and Jater Hunnicutt and Carrie Marshbourn my two nieces. Fourth, I give and bequeath to my nephew Archie Strickland, one hundred ($100.00) dollars, to be paid by executor out of the money belonging to my estate not otherwise disposed of. Fifth, I give and bequeath to my three nephews, Archie Strickland, Henry Hobbs and Jimmie Strickland and my three nieces Mary Alice Strickland, Jater Hunnicutt, and Carrie Marshbourn equal interest in all moneys notes and personal property of every kind not otherwise disposed of, to share equal and alike. Sixth, I hereby constitute and appoint my trusty nephew, Archie Strickland, my lawful executor to all intents and purposes, to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same, and every part and clause there of hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me here to fore made.
