Wake County, NC - William Hobbs Sr Will of 1788 ¤¤¤¤¤¤ Will of William Hobbs, Sr. was recorded in Wake co. September Term 1788: (Wake county Will Book C, p. 80, 17 October 1788) He mentions children: David, William, John, James, Polly, Elizabeth "Betsy", Rebecka "Becky", Winnie, Sarah, and Unity. And wife Mary. Executors of his will are David and William Hobbs and Willis Howard. In the name of God Amen the twenty-seven day of May in the year of our Lord 1788. I William Hobbs of Wake co. and state of North Carolina being in perfect mind. I lend to Mary Hobbs my dearly beloved wife my plantation whereon I do now live like wise I lend her three Negroes Pen, Hanner, and Diner and their increase like wise I lend her all my stock and household furniture during her natural life or widowhood. I give my son William after the death or marriage of his mother Mary Hobbs the plantation whereon I now live bounded as follows: beginning at the mouth of my spring Branch thence up the said branch to the Cart path thence the Coarse of the said path to a corner pine thence along the old line to a corner pine in Mooney Branch down the said Branch to the Creek down the creek to my old line along said line to the creek down the creek to the first station likewise I give him fifty acres of land joining John Coles line and David Martins line beginning at a post oak in my own line to him and his heirs forever. Likewise I give my son William all my land above Mooney Branch for him to maintain my son James in a decent manner as long as said James Hobbs liveth and if said William Hobbs my son dieth before his brother James said William Hobbs must convey said land to the use of his brother James Hobbs for the use of his maintenance. I give to my son John Hobbs all the land below the spring branch and the remaining part of the buflow track to him and his heirs forever. I give to my daughters Sarah, Unity, Polley, Betsey and Winney and Becky after the death or marriage of their mother Mary Hobbs the negroes horses cattle hogs sheep and household furniture to be equally divided between my six daughters above named. I do hereby disavow revoke all the every other former testament will and legacy likewise constitute make and ordain David Hobbs, William Hobbs and Willis Howard Executors.
