Wake County, NC - Estate of Wylie Howard Hobbs, 1853 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Estate of Wylie Howard Hobbs November 1853 State of North Carolina Wake County Notice The subscriber having testified at November Term 1853 of Wake County Court as administrator of the Estate of Willie (Wylie) Hobbs dec’d hereby gives notice to all those indebted to the estate to come forward with payment and those having claims to pursue them for payment properly. All claims cited within the time period had by law or this notice will be pleaded in B— of their recovery Nov 22nd 1853. William Hood, Administrator Notice On Tuesday the 20th of December Items will be sold to the highest bidder at the late residence of Willie Hobbs dec’d a parcel of corn, hogs, sheep, cotton to a credit of six months will be given the purchaser and bond and approved security required. Strickland Justice of the Peace of said county and Henry V. Etheridge, Passim Nichols and Freeman Broadwell are holders in obedience to the annexed order processed on the 20th day of December to view the estate of Wylie Hobbs dec’d and all of the crop and stock. Provisions on hand we have laid off and allotted to Sarah Hobbs widow as follows that is a bed, and bed stand, furniture, one wheel and cards, one cow and calf, five fat hogs it being all are had, all the corn and shucks on hand supposed to be about eight barrels and all the property and house as her absolute property and place her in possession of the same. Hobbs and Chloe Lassiter Hobbs. He was their first child. He was also the grandson of Jothram/Prudence Lassiter and William/Mary Hobbs of Marks Creek in Wake County. His siblings were Delicate Strickland (wife of Bryant), Anna Simmons (wife of Henry), Kessiah Hobbs, Rachel Johnson (wife of Isaac), Samuel Perry Hobbs and William Warren Hobbs. Wylie died a few months after his brother Samuel in the same year (1853), he left no will so little is known about his children with Sarah.
