All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Watson beverly_wat@msn.com January 22, 2010, 4:01 pm Source: Wake County Will Book 20, Pg 297 Written: January 27, 1816 Recorded: August 1828 Will of John Holloway Wake County, North Carolina Will Book 20, pg 297 Wake County Court, August Term 1828 In the Name of God, Amen, I John Holloway of the County of Wake and State of North Carolina, Being of Sound mind and memory but calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing it is appointed for man to die do make constitute appoint & ordain this to be my last Will & Testament in manner & form following Viz – In the first place I lend to my wife Mary Holloway the tract of Land whereon I now live and all my Household & kitchen furniture all my stock of Horses, Cattle Hogs --- -- my plantation tools Hogsheads – also Six negros (to wit) Dorcus, Jude, Lucy, Davy, Ned & Stephen these I lend to her during her natural life - Item, I give & bequeath to my son William Holloway one woman named Judy after my wife’s death also one negro Boy named Cador which negroes with the increase of the first I give to him & his heirs forever – Item, I give to Susannah Kee Two Shillings – Item, I lend to my Daughter Polly Head one negro girl named Hawkins and after the death of my wife one negro Boy named Stephen during her natural Life and then to be equally divided among her lawful Heirs – Item, I lend to my Daughter Elizabeth Harris one negro Boy named Squire and after the death of my wife one negro Girl named Lucy during her natural life & then to be equally divided among her lawful heirs - Item, I give to my Daughter Nancy Barker one negro woman named Oridy & the negro man named Ned which I give to her & her heirs forever. Item, I give to my son John Holloway five Shillings – Item, I give to my Grand daughter Delilah Holloway Daughter of William Holloway, one negro boy named Tony which negro I give to her & her heirs forever – Item, I give to my Grand Son Hinton Holloway son of my Daughter Elizabeth Harris one negro girl named Salley, one Bed & furniture & fifty dollars in money which I give to him & his heirs forever – Item, My further will & desire is after the death of my wife Mary Holloway all the residue of my Estate not here mentioned be Sold & after paying my lawful debts to be equally divided between my three daughters Elizabeth Harris, Nancy Barker & Polly Head – I constitute, make & appoint my son William Holloway & my friend William E. Roberts Executors of this my last will and testament.
