Diggs Wake Co., NC Will Book 23, pp. 418-419, File 660, November Term 1835: In the name of God Amen I James Spight of Wake County and State of North Carolina being in sound disposing mind and memory and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do this twenty-eight day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following. To wit, Item 1st I Recommend my Soul to God who give it and my body to the clay from whence it came to be burried in a decent manner at the direction of my executors whom I shallhereafter name, And to such worldly estate as I have,I give and dispose of the same in the manner and form following (to wit) Item 2nd I give to my Daughter Lucinda one years schooling-- Item 3rd I give to my Daughter Eliza two Years Schooling -- Item 4th I give to my Daughter Louisa six Years Schooling --- Item 5th I give to my Daughter July Seven Years Schooling-- Item 6th I give to my Daughter Isabella Seven Years Schooling-- Item 7th my will and desire is that all the residue of my Estate, boath Real and personal after paying my Just debts and the cost of carrying this will into Execution, shall be Equally divided between my wife Polly Speight and my several children. (To wit) Rebekah Emeline Lucinda Eliza Louiza Juley & Isabella Speight to them and their heirs and assigns forever And lastly my friends, Aulsey Hunter, P. B. Burt Executors to this my last Will and testament. I also give and bequeath to my daughter Rebecca Moore six hundred and eight acres of lands on the road leading to Avents Ferry being the same surveyed by Woodson Clement? for Nathl Jones, to her, her heirs and assigns forever as a part of her part of my Estate, to be valued by disinterested persons.
