Wake County, NC - Will of Moses Lassiter, 1847 ----¤¤¤---- The Last will and testament of Moses Lassiter of the county Wake and state of North Carolina. I Moses Lassiter considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory blessed be almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and from as follows: Item 1st - I have it to be the choice of my beloved wife Elizabeth Lassiter after my deceased to have her thirds or a child's part of all the property that is left after my death. I also lend to my beloved wife Elizabeth Lassiter my Negro man Ruffin during her life time after which it is my will and desire for Ruffin to be sold to the highest bidder and the money equally divided between my daughters Tabitha Watson, Rachel Smith, and the heirs of Candis Hester, Mary Watkins, Elizabeth Bow, Louisa Lassiter, Catherine Lassiter, Martha Ferrell and Ellen Lassiter to have a bed and furniture a piece as that each of them has had theirs. It is also my will and desire for Lousia Lassiter, Catherine Lassiter, Martha Ferrell and Ellen Lassiter. Item 3rd - I give and bequeath to my son Riddick Lassiter, five dollars to him and his heirs for ever. Item 4th - I give and bequeath to the heirs of my son Solomon Lassiter five dollars to them and their heirs for ever. I give and bequeath to the heirs of my daughter Candace Hester five dollars for them and their heirs forever. Item 5th - I give and bequeath to my daughter Grissy Hester five dollars to her and her heirs forever. Item 6th - I give and bequeath to my son John H. Lassiter five dollars to him and his heirs forever. Lastly its my will and desire that my Executors and the money owing from the sale of my property to pay all just debts if any owing after my death. I also nominate and appoint my wife Elizabeth Lassiter and my friends John Ferrel, Henry Watson executors to this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made in witness where of I the said Moses Lassiter hath here into sit my hand and seal this 1st day of September in the year of our lord and thousand eight hundred and forty seven. Sign and acknowledged by Moses Lassiter the said Moses Lassiter in presence of witness.
