I Jesse Olive Senr of the County of Wake and State of North Carolina Being of Sound mind and perfect memory Blessed by god but weak in bodily health do this the Thirteenth day of October in the year Lord one thousand eight hundred twenty eight make and Publish this my last will and testament in the manner following that is to say Firstly I lend to my Beloved wife Monica Olive my land plantation dwelling House and all my out houses during her widowhood bounded as follows Beginning at a beach on the Bank of Crabtree creek at the ford leading to the public mill thence a South course along the old Lane to a large persimmon tree thence a South east course so as to take in the Spring thence a South course So as to take in the apple orchard to the south line thence west along said line to a pine Jones Corner thence a South course to a Post oak thence west along the heirs of Lanes line to a Post oak thence west to a Post oak James Olive & Wm Nichols corner. Thence a north east course to a red oak thence a north course to crabtree creek thence down the various courses of said creek to the Beginning and I also lend to her during her widowhood a negro woman by the name of Anica and a negro boy by the name of Abraham and also one bed and furniture and half dozen chairs one pot and Dutch oven all the knives & forks & all the earthen ware and her choice of Desk or side board and one chest her choice and her choice of the horses & two sows & all their shoats which use about the house and also two of her choice of the cows & calves and a sufficient quantity of the working tools to carry on her farm and also the still & casks one flax & cotton wheel and one loom & all the water vessels and one walnut folding table and one pine table Secondly I give unto my beloved Son Richard Olive one negro man by the name of Jerry to him & his wife during their natural life and at their deaths to be sold and equally divided between their children. Thirdly I give unto my beloved daughter Sally Bowden one negro girl by the name of Lucy 4th I give unto my beloved son John Olive one negro man by the name of Jacob to him & his wife during their natural life and at their deaths to be sold and Equally divided between their children. Fifthly I give unto my beloved son James Olive all my land lying on the west side of that I willed to my beloved wife and also give unto him & his wife a negro boy by the name of Abram at the death of my beloved wife & If she should marry it is my will for my son James to have him During their natural life and at their deaths to be sold and equally divided between their children. Sixthly I give unto my beloved Daughter Rachel Smith and her husband one negro woman by the name of Chery and all her present and future increase During their natural life and at their Deaths to be Equally Divided between their children. Seventhly I give unto my beloved Daughter Gilley Hartsfield and her husband one negro girl by the name of fanny & her increase during their natural life and their Death to be Equally Divided between their Children Eighthly and further my will and desire is that my Executor after my death Sell or divide all the balance of the tract of land on which I live on the east side of the land I willed to my beloved wife and also half the tract of land on which Richard Massey Senr deceased lived and also the tract on which William Lyon now lives and the balance of the household furniture and stock of all kinds gun boat & cart and oxen the balance of the plantation working tools to be sold and that my Executors out of the money arising from the sale of said property after paying all my just debts my will and desire is for them to purchase two Negro girls about the size of them I give to Sally Rachel & Gilley one for my beloved Daughter Elizabeth Crowder & the other for my beloved Daughter Polly Lyons and that my Executors make them right in the Same manner in which I left the Negroes to the rest of my children and that the balance of the money be Equally Divided between my five daughters Salley, Rachel, Gilley Elizabeth & Polley Ninthly I give unto my beloved son Jesse Olive all the land and plantation & houses which I have left to my beloved wife at the expiration of her right and my will and desire is for my son Jesse to live with my beloved wife during her life widowhood that is if they can agree if not them must divide plantations and I give unto him a negro boy by the name Reddick (?) to him and his lawful heir forever also one plow weeding hoe one half dozen chairs and set of knives & forks and further my will and desire is after the Death of my beloved wife that all the property which I have left to her Except the land and Negro boy Abram to be Sold & the money to be Equally divided between my five Daughters Salley Bowden Rachel Smith Gilley Hartsfield Elizabeth Crowder & Polly Lyon And I hereby make and ordain my worthy friend William T. Smith and Dempsey Bowden my Executors of this my last will & testament In witness thereof I the said Jesse Olive have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written Signed sealed & Published and delivered by the said Jesse Olive the testator as his last will & testament in the presence of us who were present at the time of signing & sealing thereof Burwell P.
