Wake County, NC - Will & Estate Records File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Stephen Terry Will of Samuel Pearson, East Mill, NC Recorded in the Clerks office in Wake County in Book G and page 1 the 8th day of June AD 1802 In the name of God Amen, I Samuel Pearson of Wake County and State of North Carolina in tolerable health and of a perfect sound mind and memory, thanks be to God, considering the mortality of my body, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say---- First, I give and bequeath to my Son Paris Pearson Ten Shillings Specie [?] Secondly, I give and bequeath to my Son Simon Pearson Three Hundred and forty Acres of land more or less lying on both sides of Steep-Hill Creak Joining Paris Pearson's land, including the old Mill; Also One Negro Named Joe, to belong to him & his heirs forever. Thirdly, I Give and bequeath to my Son Asa Pearson Three Hundred Acres of Land lying on both sides of Step-hill Creek, Joining of the Northwest Corner of Simon Pearson's Land, Also One Hundred and Twenty Acres of Land Joining of the North Side of the last above mentioned land, Also One Negro named Ben, to him and his heirs forever. Fourthly, I Give and bequeath to my Son Preston Pearson Three Hundred and thirty Acres of Land with the Plantation whereon I now live (with the proviso that his Mother live theron during her widowhood without interruption if she please) Also Four Hundred Acres of Land Joining on the west side of the above said Land, Also One Feather Bed and furniture, One Sorrel Mare & One HandMill to him and his heirs forever. Also, One Negro named Doctor to him and his heirs forever. I do further Will that my Wife Mary Pearson have the use of my Negro Woman named Mareah, Alsom Two Feather beds, Bedsteads, and furniture during her widowhood, then to be sold and divided amongst all of my children. I also will that the remainder of my Personal estate to be sold at publick [sic] Sale by my Executors giving Nine or Twelve Months Credit, and the money so arising to be equally divided amongst my Six Daughter (to wit) Esther, Charity, Patience, Rachel, Fereby, & Peace. My Will and desire further is, that my Wife Mary Pearson Enjoy the use of my Negro Pompey and her choice of two Horses during her widowhood, notwithstanding the devise of said Negros & horses to the use of my Six Daughters aforesaid; and at the death or itermarriage of my said Wife, the said Negro Pompey and Horses to be sold as aforesaid for the Uses of my said Six Daughters as aforesaid. Lastly, I do hereby also Constitute and appoint my two Sons Simon Pearson and Preston Pearson to be my executors of this my last Will and Testament, revoking & disannulling all other Wills or Testaments whatsoever, Ackowledging this & none other to be my last Will & Testament, In [illegible] whereof I the Testator have hereunto set my hand & offered my seal this 30th day of July 1800 Signd, Seald, published & declared In presence of --------------- N.B.
