Wake County, NC - WILLS - Robert Perry, 1837 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wake Co NC, Wills, Inv. Settlements of Estates, etc. Wake Co, NC. Bk p. 25 - 1737-1845 In the name of God Amen. I, Robert Perry of the County of Wake & state of N. C. being of sound and desposing mind & memory do make and publish & declare this to be my last will & testament in manner & form following, first I leave to my Beloved wife Frances Perry the piece of land where on I now reside containing 232 acres more or less together with four negroes Dick, Tom, Zeb & Click also the Household & kitchen furniture plantation tools including every and many other necessities required to keep house on and not willed away by this will to others of my family and at the death or marriage of my Beloved wife the property here loaned to be distributed of as hereafter mentioned. 2. I give and bequeath to my daughter Hicksey Walker a negro Boy Ranson to be given her at my death to her and her body heirs forever. 3. I give and bequeath to my Grandsons Zuk & J. L. one Steer, Buck now in their possession also twenty Dollars in cash - each when they arrive to lawful age to them & their heirs forever. 4. I give and Bequeath to my son Burwell Perry the negro woman Sarah to be Sold and with the net proceeds of said negro to Add enough from my estate to buy a tract of Land for said Burwell to be equal to Rixy Perry's tract of land in value also the Black man. Bed & furniture cow & calf sow & pigs & 5. At the Death of my beloved wife Frances Perry - I give & bequeath to my four Daughters Lucy Perry, Candis Perry, Margaret Petty & Mary Perry four negroes Dick Tom Zeb & Elich also one be a each to them and their heirs forever. 6. I give and Bequeath to John L. Perry at the Death of his mother Frances Perry the tract of land where on I now reside containing two hundred & thirty five acres be the Land more or less also a good home , Bed & furniture Sow & pigs Cow & calf to him & his heirs forever. 7. The balance & residue of my Estate not here divided I give & bequeath to my four Daughters Lucy Perry, Candes Perry, Margaret Perry & Mary Perry to be equally divided between them at the death of their Mother. 8. My Desire is that at my Death that my beloved wife Frances Perry & four Daughters Lucy Candis, Margaret & Mary & John L Perry live together during my wife's lifetime or widowhood and that they work the four negroes together with the other for the plantation and divide the profits equally as a family and amongst themselves. 9. My Will & Desire is Should any of my Daughters marry before the Death of my wife that she is to Draw twenty five Dollars per year for the labor of her negro during the life of her mother or Intermarriage. 10. My Will & Desire is that at the Death of my beloved wife Frances Perry that my four Daughters or as many as may then be single live with John L. Perry and keep their negroes with him and draw a family par for the negro as is common in such cases. 11. My Will & Desire is that should one of my four daughters Lucy, Candis, Margarte & Mary Perry die without marrying their part of my Estate is to be Divided amongst the surviving ones Equally & proportinately to them and Heirs forever, And I will appoint my beloved wife Frances Perry Executrix to this my last will and Textament in witness when I have herewith set my hand and affixed my seal the 23 day Jun in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty Six Signed sealed & acclaimed to be the last Will and testament of Robert Perry (seal) Samel Young William Wake Co Feb Spring 1837 The foregoing last will & testament of Robert Perry Decd was exhibited in Open court for Probate and the all execution thereof was proved by the oath of Smal Young & Williams Roles the subscribing witness and ordered to be recorded.
