Wake County, NC - Wills File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Meredith Clapper In the name of God, Amen I William Pope, Senior of Wake County and state of North Carolina being weak in body and it being appointed for all men once to die but being at present of sound and sane mind and memory do hereby make and ordain this instrument of writing to be understood and considered for my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit that is to say that after my decease I recommend my body to the earth in decent and Christian burial not doubting to receive the same at the resurection of the just with the blessing of Christ and respecting the worldly effects wherewith it hath pleased divine providence to bless me I depart of as follows: Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Paty Thomson 50 cents. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Winnefred Garner 50 cents. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Sally Powell 50 cents. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Polly Powell 50 cents. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Powell 50 cents. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Cloe Liptrot 50 cents. Item I give and bequeath to my son Elijah Pope 50 cents. Item I give and bequeath to my son Charles Pope 50 cents. Item I give and bequeath to my son William Pope 50 cents and all the rest and residue my estate consisting of the articles herein after mentioned. I give and bequeath to my son Dempsy Pope, to wit, eleven head of cattle, one man, two feather beds and covering and Bedsteads pertaining to each of the two said beds and two Iron Pots and all my farming utensils and plantation tools and all other articles not herein mentioned and belonging to me. I give and bequeath to my said son Dempsy Pope his heirs and assigns and I hereby make annul and make void all other wills or testaments by me made and I do hereby nominate and appoint Alexander Myatt and Samuel Walton, executors of this last will and testament and if either of them fail or refuse I authorize the other to procede and officate as my sole executor.
