Aldridge-Rann ~ PAGES 22-26 ~ WAKE COUNTY, North Carolina RECORD BOOK NO. 11 WILLS, INVENTORIES AND SETTLEMENTS OF ESTATES 1812-1813 FILMED BY THE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY OF UTAH AT RALEIGH, North Carolina 26 SEPT 1946 FHL FTLM #20008 In the name of God Amen: I Walter Rand of the County of Wake and State of North Carolina, being weak of body but of perfect mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in the following manner--- Item) I live unto my wife Mary the land and plantation lying on the North side of Swift Creek lying between Marlers Creek and Mill Branch including the land I purchased of William Cormack and also running on South course front the mouth of the Mill Branch across the creek thence south four poles from common high water mark thence four poles from common high water mark down the south side of said creek to the lower part of Tates pond thence to the creek, also all, the land which the pond now overflows, also the Mills and all their utensils, also, one Negro man named Mial, also one Negro Woman named Silvia, also four beds and their furniture, and all my house hold furniture, except the balance bed, also all my kitchen furniture, also my still also fifty barrels of corn and six bade stacks with all the cow fades, also as much of my stock as she may think proper or necessary to be left on the plantation all which property I lend my said wife as long as she remains my widow and no longer but with provision as to the land lent her as above specified, that my son Parker have the privilege of setting on some part of said land so as not to molest or interrupt my wife that my son Parker be entitled immediately to one half of the profits of said Mills upon conditions he is at half the expense for keeping them in good repair. Item) I give and bequeath to my son Parker at the expiration of my wife's widowhood all the land plantation and Mills agreeable to the above boundary of land lent my wife, also one feather bed and furniture one cow and calf one horse name laurel, including his bridle and saddle to him and heirs forever. Item) I give and bequeath unto my son John the land I purchased of Turner Smith decd. bearing date the sixth day of September one thousand eight hundred and one, to him and his heirs forever. Item) I give and bequeath unto my daughter Betsy one Negro woman named Sabra and her two children named (Edith and Anna to her and her heirs forever. I further lend unto my wife during her widowhood, one Negro woman named Jane at the expiration of said widowhood. I give the said Negro woman Jane with all her increase to my daughter Betsy to her and her heirs forever. Item)I give and bequeath unto my son William all the land which I purchased of William Walton by different deeds, also all the land I purchased by deeds of the heirs of William Walton decd. son. also I give unto my son William one Negro man named Luke, also one Negro woman named Ceiley, and one bed and furniture, one cow and calf one yoke of steers commonly called his yoke, one cart with low wheels, also twenty five barrels of corn, seven hundred weight of pork, two blade stacks, one chestnut sorrel mare bridle and saddle, one chest to him and his heirs forever. Item) I give and bequeath unto my son Nathaniel all the land I purchased of John Lewis and Isaac Copeland by deeds, also the land I entered and saved lying on the water of Neels Branch containing twenty four acres, also all the land lying on the south side of Neels Branch belonging to the tract whereon I now live, also one Negro boy named Herculous, one Negro boy named Peter, one sorrel mare called limmet, with bridle and saddle also one bed and furniture, also my watch to him and his heirs forever. Item) I give and bequeath unto my son Harrison, all the land lying on the south side of Swift Creek, and on the North side of Neels Branch belonging to the tract I now live on accept what I give to my son Parker lying on the south side of said creek also all the land on the West side of the Mills Branch, also one Negro boy named Isaac to him and his heirs forever. Item) I give and bequeath unto my daughter Molsey one Negro girt named Sally, also one Negro girl named Nancy, also the Negro boy named Calvin, to her and her heirs forever. Item)I further give unto my daughter Molsey at the expiration of my wife's widowhood, one Negro man named Mial also one Negro woman named Silvia with all her increase to her and her heirs forever. and also my desire is that my executors sell the two yoke of steers that my son Nathaniel and my son Harrison claims as theirs and that the money arising therefrom be equally divided between them and applied towards their schooling and supporting of them, and also my desire is that all the perishable property belonging to me which is not necessary to be left on the plantation be sold and the money arising therefrom together with the money I have in my house be to discharge and pay my just debts, and the surplus, if any, I give to my daughter Molsey, and it is my further desire that all my perishable property lent my wife during her widowhood, at the expiration of the same, be sold together with all the increase that may arise from the stock and the money arising therefrom be equally divided between my four children (to wit) my two sons Nathaniel and Harrison to them and their heirs forever, also my daughters Betsy and Molsey to them and their heirs forever, and my will and desire is that the land I purchased of Martin Hall lying in Smith County and state of Tennessee which deed is now in the hands of William Douglas my agent of Sumner County and State aforesaid for which land there is a suit commenced in Federal Court in the Town of Nashville and State aforesaid against the heirs of William Sanders decd., that if the said land be recovered or any part thereof that the same be sold and the money arising therefrom be equally divided amongst my children to them and their heirs forever. Item) my desire is that my wife have the best yoke of steers together with the cart with the high wheels in the same manner that the other property left her, also one half of all my machined cotton, and the other half of the machine cotton I give unto my son John my daughter Betsy and my son William to be equally divided between them. Item) my desire is my wheat fan be sold, the money arising therefrom I give unto Molsey and Harrison to be equally divided between them. Item) I give unto my son Parker my cotton machine and every thing belonging thereto, to him and his heirs forever, my desire also is that my Negro woman Susannah remain on the plantation the remaining part of her days, and that she have comfortable treatment. Item) my desire is , my son Harrison have all my wearing apparel. My further desire is that my wife have the bringing up my daughter Molsey, until she arrives at full age or marries. it is my further desire that my sons Harrison and Nathaniel gave a good English Education My Further desire is that the plantation utensils be sold except such a part as my wife may think necessary to be left on the plantation my further desire is that my son Parker have the superintendence of my wife's plantation business and that he treat her with that respect which is justly done from a child, to a tender Parent. Lastly, I constitute and appoint my worthy friend John Curtis, and my son's John Rand and Parker Rand Executors of this my last Will and Testament, disannulling and revoking all other Wills and Testaments made heretofore by me in testimony whereof I affix my hand and seal this 23rd day of October One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twelve.
