Although the surname is spelled RICH in the will, in many Wake Co. court records it is spelled REACH. Will of Jeremiah Rich (Reach) dated 1781 Wake Co., NC, in Record Book 1, p. 174 In the Name of God Amen I Jeremiah Rich of the County of Wake and State of North Carolina being Weak in Body but of Perfect sound Mind and Memory and calling to mind that it is appointed for all Men once to Die do make and Ordain this to be my last Will & Testament in the follwoing manner and form Viz.-- Item I give and Bequeath to my Son John Rich Ten Pounds Specie to him and his Heirs forever. Item I give and Bequeath to my Son William Rich Ten Pounds Specie to him and his Heirs forever. Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Susannah Bridges wife of James Bridges Ten Pounds Specie to her and her Heirs forever. Item I give and Bequeath to my Son Jacob Rich Ten Pounds Specie to him and his Heirs forever. Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Judy Dodd Wife of William Dodd Ten Pounds Specie to her and her Heirs forever. Item I give and Bequeath to my daughter Charity Rich Tem Pounds Specie to her and her Heirs forever. I lend to my beloved Wife Mary all my Lands, Negroes, Horses, Cattle, Hoggs, Sheep, Geese, and all my Household furniture with all my Tools of all kinds in dureing her Widowhood and at her Marriage or Death all that I now lend to my beloved wife I give Bequeath to my Son Charles Rich to him and his Heirs forever and if he Should die before he has an Heir what I give to him to be equally divided between them that is living. And I do hereby Appoint Brother Timothy Rich and my Son Charles Rich my whole and Sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby Revokeing all other Wills and Testaments by me made hereby Confirming this to be my last Will and Testament.
