Wake County, NC - William Ira Rowland Will and Probate ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Will of William I Rowland Last Will and Testament of William I Rowland Wake County, North Carolina, p. 275 Written April 06, 1886 -- codicil Feb. 25, 1892 Probated June 29, 1899 In the name of God Amen: I WILLIAM I. ROWLAND and of the County of Wake and State of N.C. being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existance do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say: First --- That my executor (hereinafter named) shall provide for my body a decent burial, pay all my funeral expenses, together with my just debts, howsoever and to whom soever owing and of the monies that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate Item 2 I loan to my beloved wife twenty five acres of my home tract of land (lying westward of my residence bounded in the following manner, to wit: beginning in Rebecca Rowlands line north of my residence and running westward and southwestward with Rebecca Rowlands line to James Rowlands corner, thence south with Jas W. Rowlands line far enough that by running east to my dwelling house or (against it?) southward, thence north to the beginning to contain twenty five acres) for her use during the term of her natural life or widowhood, also one fine room of my dwelling for the same time (the south room). Item 3 -- It is my will that my said wife shall have three barrels of corn, three hundred pounds of pork one barrel of flour and twelve (pounds?) lbs coffee for one years support Item 4 -- I desire and bequeath to my youngest son BENNETT ROWLAND all of my home tract of land (to include the twenty five acres loaned to my wife which shall be his at her death or expiration of her widowhood) to have and to hold to him and his heirs in fee simple forever. Item 5 -- I further bequeath to my youngest son BENNETT ROWLAND my clock, sideboard, walnut chest _____ one dress table, book case and all my black smith tools and cider (trough?). Item 6 -- It is my will that my son BENNETT shall take care of my oldest son NATHAN I. ROWLAND who is insane, for this cause I have given my said son BENNETT more than a reasonable share of my Estate. Item 7 -- I make no provisions in this will for my sons, JAMES W. ROWLAND, and JOHN L. ROWLAND, for they have each had their fair share of my Estate. Item 8 -- I bequeath to my son CORNELIUS ROWLAND three hundred dollars in money Item 9 -- It is my will that my tract of land lying on Middle Creek below Almon Austins (?) land, shall be sold by my Executor and the money equally divided share and share alike between my three daughters HENRIETTA GILBERT, BARBARA N. BRIDGER and JENNETT F. AKINS. Item 10 -- I give and bequeath to my daughters EMELINE UTLEY and MARY E. UTLEY each five dollars. Item 11 -- It is my will that all my personal property not disposed of in previous items of this will shall be sold by my Executor and the proceeds equally divided between my several sons and daughters each share and share alike. Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son BENNETT ROWLAND my lawful Executor to all intents and purposes, to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof. ROWLAND deceased: before Wm Russ BENNETT ROWLAND being sworn doth say: That Wm I ROWLAND late of the said County is dead having first made and published his last will and testament and codicil and that BENNETT ROWLAND is the executor named therein. Further that the property of the said Wm I ROWLAND consisting of Real & personal property is worth $500 -- so far as can be ascertained at the date of this application and that ANNIE ROWLAND widow of Wm I ROWLAND, BENNETT ROWLAND, CORNELIUS ROWLAND, HENRIETTA GILBERT, BARBARY W. BRIDGER, JENNETT F. AKINS, EMELINE UTLEY, MARY E. UTLEY, JAMES W. ROWLAND, JNO L.
