JOHN GILMOUR, ESQ. of Halifax. He had been somewhat indisposed for some days, but was about and cheerful: On Sunday morning, he rode out a few miles and was taken on his return very ill and died a few hours afterword. He was a young man of talents and strictly moral; possessing a most amiable disposition and endearing manners, with these rare qualities he promised to be a most useful and respectable citizen. Having graduated at Yale College, it was here he formed an attachment to a young lady, who he married about a year ago: he was preparing to take her back to Connecticut, where they intended settling with her relatives. Besides a fond wife, he has left an infant child, who will hereafter feel the loss occasioned by his premature death. His relations will not be the only persons who will feel sensibly the loss; his virtues could not fail to endear him to all of his acquaintances.
