ALFRED ALSTON WILLIAMS

   Franklin friends were distressed to hear of the death of Alfred Alston 
Williams of Warrenton, N.C., who died in the Duke University Hospital, Durham, 
N.C., March 19, after a short illness. Mr. Williams was a native of Warren 
County, N.C., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Williams, and was in his 
66th years. He was an active and prominent citizen in his home town, the senior 
member of the Williams Motor Company of Warrenton.

   He is survived by his wife who was before her marriage Miss Kate Pretlow of 
this town, daughter of Mrs. John Pretlow and the late John Pretlow, Jr. and had 
been a frequent visitor here with members of his family. He is survived by his 
wife and two children, Miss Katherine Pretlow Williams and Alfred Alston 
William, Jr.  Funeral services were held from Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 
Warrenton, Sunday, March 20, at 3 o’clock, where Mr. Williams was a loyal 
communicant and Senior Warden of that church.

   Mrs. John Pretlow, Mr. and Mrs. G.G. McCann and daughters, Sue Pretlow and 
Ellen French McCann, R.A. Pretlow, Bobby Pretlow, Mrs. Thos. N. White and Misses 
Minnie and Fannie Pretlow were in Warrenton for the funeral, Mrs. Pretlow 
remaining for several days with her daughter.
