Copy received from North Carolina State Archives.] In the name of God Amen I William Alston of Warren County, being of perfect mind and memory (blessed be God) do this 14th of July Ninety five, make and ordain this my last will and testament, in manner and form following, Viz. To My beloved Wife Martha Alston, I give and bequeath the plantation whereon I now live, together with the plantations which I bought of Henry Alston, and Samuel Williams, during her natural life after with to decend to my Son Medicus Alston. I also give to my beloved Wife the following Negroes Sarah, Lattuce, Lucy and Boatswain, exclusive of an equal part in the ballance of my Negroes. The [remainder ?] of my land, it is my desire, should be equally divided between my sons Philip, William, Whitmell, Thos and Samuel Alston. My Negroes it is my wish should be equally divided between my Wife and children and the children to take their parts as they come of age, or marry. The stock to be divided equally between my Wife, and Sons. I also impower my beloved Wife to dispose of the [House ?] and kitchen furniture as she may think proper between my children. My land which I bought of Thos Crawford, in Halifax, to return to him, provided the claims which John Hamilton has against the estate of Nathaniel Kimbrough should be [resolved ?], but if other wise the sd. land to be divided between my sons, in case Crawford does not provide for the discharge of the sd claims. And I hereby make and appoint my Brothers Thos, Philip, and Samuel Alston Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I the sd. William Alston have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
