Carolina Washington county This Indenture made this first day of febury in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred fifty one Between Edward T. Jarvis & wife Penelope of Tyrrell County of the one part and Joshua B. Davenport of the County and State above said Witnesseth that as the said Edward T. Jarvis & wife Penelope for and inconsideration of the sum of Thirty dollars To us in Hand paid by Joshua Davenport the receipt where of we to Hand acknowledge our selves Herewith fully satisfied contented & paid here granted Bargained and Sold & By these presents do grant Bargain and Sell unto Joshua B Davenport a cetain track or Parcel of Lands situated on the west side of Scupperlong River -- we Sell unto him all the Right Title Intrust and demand that is to say unto the said Joshua B. Davenport as --right unto our pease of Land containing of about one Hundred and Eighteen acres Including of the Land where my father & mother Last Lived and the Jesse Davenport Tract and all of my intrust in two -- Tracks in the Lands of the Heirs of Aron Spruill and that my father bought of Saml (Daniel?) G. Spruill and Zephaniah Spruill Heirs of Aron Spruill which my part of said Lands containing Ten acres Be the same more or less also one other Track or pease of Land adjoining the Lands of -- ?Anson A. Spruill and children also William Pettigrew Beginning in -- Line on the main road ?Bering westerdley to a wide oak corner thence southerdley & along Davenport patent Line to Phelpses & Alexanders thence alonge said Line to the Road thence along the Road to the first Station Being abought ?two ?acres Be the same mor or less To him the said Joshua B. Davenport and His Heirs forever and I the afforesaid Edward T. Jarvis & wife Penelope will forever warrant and Defend all of our Rights titles Intrust and Demand, unto him the said Joshua B. Davenport and his Heirs free and clare from us and our Heirs Executors administrators in witness whare of we have heareunto set our Hands and seals this day and dat first above written signed sealed and dated in the Presents of us teste Edward T. Jarvis and his wife Penelope in the presence of each other and therefore the said Penelope was by me examined seperate and apart from her said husband tacking her voluntary execution of the same and the said Penelope declared that she executed it freely and voluntaryly and without the coersion of her said husband or any other person and doth now assent thereto March 3rd 1851 Let this Deed be registered Jno. -- ?clerk
