State of North Carolina Washington County This indenture made this the tenth day of January one thousand & Eight hundred fifty nine between Joseph Woodley and wife Eunice Woodley of the county and state aforesaid of the first part and Joshua B. Davenport of the county and state aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged has given granted and bargained sold and conveyed and does hereby give grant bargain sell and convey to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever all our interest in the tracts or parcel of lands lying in the county of Washington state of North Carolina bounded as fowlowes {Viz} beginning in Isaac B. Batemanıs line on the main road ner to where he now lives, thence runing south to S.M. Alexanderıs line, thence West along Alexanders line to a Black gum corner at Henrietta Swain big ditch thence along said line to the heirs of Abram Davenport line thence along there line Westardly to Alexander Davenport line, thence No along his line to Jesse furlow line, thence No ?abinding on the lines of the said furlows and Horace Spruill and Joseph Furlows and W.A. Spruill to Ebenezer Dunston line corner pine near piney islands, then East along dunston line to Henrietta Swain line thence south along her line 88 poles thence East along said line 66 poles thence along said line No 240 poles to William A. Spruill line thence East 55 poles along Spruill line to Joshua B. Davenport line thence along Davenport line south 240 poles then East 31 poles to Isaac B. Bateman line thence Binding the said Bateman and wife line to the first station, containing all of our interest in the lands whereon A. H. Davenport & wife last lived and whereon Jordan H. Phelps now lives the said interest includes of thirty acres more or less to have and to hold all of our interest in the above ?Boundres of land with the appurtinances and hereditaments thereunto belonging to the said Joshua B. Davenport the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever and the said parties of the first part for the consideration aforesaid does hereby covenant and agree to warrant and defend the above interest from us our heirs and assigns forever to the said party of the second part his heirs executors administrators and assigns a good title forever and we does further covenant that the said Joseph Woodley and his w Enice Woodley is seized of the above interest in fee simple and has power to make and convey such and estate by this indenture and ?law ?does the same by these presents in witness whereof the said parties of the first part has hereunto set their hands and seals on the day and year above writings Joseph Woodley {seal} Eunice Woodley {seal} Sign seald and deliver in the presence of Witness H.H.
