Peacock Estate 6 Mar 1875 Washington County NC Registrar of Deeds Book P Page 85 This Indenture made the Sixth day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and Seventy five between J. M. Bateman Administrator of R W Peacock of the first part and Mary L. Singleton of the Second part, both of the County of Washington in the State of North Carolina, Witnesseth: That by virtue and authority of a decree of the Superior Court of said county made in the petition of said J. M. Bateman as administrator aforesaid against the heirs at law of the said R W Peacock to make the real estate of the said Peacock assets in the hand of said administrator and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Mary L. Singleton, formerly Mary L. Peacock, at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is acknowledged, the said J. M. Bateman administrator as aforesaid has bargained sold aliened and conveyed and by these presents does bargain sell alien and convey unto the said Mary L. Singleton her heirs and assigns the following described tract or parcel of land situate in said county: adjoining the land of B M. Spruill, Nathan Oliver and others containing one hundred acres more or less the metes and bounds of which are fully set forth in a certain deed executed by Richard Peacock to T W Peacock, recorded in the Registers Office of said County in Book L Page 416 to which reference is hereto made. To have and to hold unto her the said Mary L. Singleton her heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof the said John M. Bateman administrator as aforesaid has hereunto set his hand and seal the year month and day first above written. John M. Bateman Adm. (Seal) Signed, Sealed and delivered in presence of S. B. Spruill Jr. Washington County - In the Probate Court The due execution of the foregoing deed from John M. Bateman Adm. to Mary L. Singleton was this the 20th day of March 1875 acknowledged before the undersigned Judge of Probate for said county by the Grantor. Therefore let the said deed with this certificate be registered.
