Washington County, NC - Deeds File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Shirley Wersinger Uriah Chesson Deed to Mathias Owens State of N Carolina Washington County Know all men by these presents that I Uriah Chesson of the County and State aforesd have, for and in consideration of the Sum of Fifteen dollars to me in hand paid by Mathias Owens of the County of Tyrrel and State aforesd, the receipt whereof I do herein acknowledge, and myself fully satisfied and contented, have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the aforesd mathias Owens, his heirs and assigns, my third part of 200 acres of Swamp, more or less, situate, lying and being in the aforesd County of Washington, which swamp was given to my Brothers, Abram, John & myself, by our Father-Beginning at a Black Gum in the North Side of the road leading to Plymouth-To Have and to Hold my one third part of the said Swamp, unto him the aforesd mathias Owens, his heirs and assigns forever And I the aforsd Uriah Chesson, do for myself, my heirs executors administrators & assigns, Warrant and defend the same unto him the aforsd Mathias Owens, his heirs, executors, administrators, or assigns, free and clear from the lawful claim or claims of any person, or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof I have set my hand and seal this 29th February 1840.
