II, P. 8 ANNIE HART ELLIS DOUGHTIE Mrs. Annie Hart Ellis Doughtie, well-known in Southampton County and a former resident of Franklin, died Thursday morning, December 6, at 9 o’clock at her home in Plymouth, N.C., after an illness of several months. She was the widow of James Edward Doughtie and the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.P. Ellis of Branchville. She was born in the Little Texas community near Hebron. Mrs. Doughtie was a devoted mother, faithful to her home and friends, and was loved and highly esteemed by all who knew her. During her illness she was patient, cheerful and lovable to her many friends. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Donald Divvins of Hawthorne, Calif., and Mrs. Frank Dew of Plymouth; one son, Carlyle Doughtie of Plymouth; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Miss Lona A. Ellis, and one brother, Phillip Person Ellis, Both of Branchville. Funeral services, attended by many friends and relatives, were conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the Baptist Church in Plymouth by the pastor. He favorite hymns were sung by the choir. Interment was in the family lot in the church cemetery.
