Nov. 23, 1819 Edenton Gazette DIED, at Plymouth, on Sunday, the 14th inst., DR. JOHN E. PARKER. DR. PARKER was a native of the State of Pennsylvanie, but for several years before his death, had been a resident of North Carolina, in many parts of which he has left an impression highly honorable to his talents and requirements. His literary career, in this State, we believe, was commenced in Plymouth, where without an auxiliary, he superintended and directed the studies of an Academy for three or four years with acknowledged skill and ability. In a similar and much superior institution at Vine Hill, he occupied a distinguished station; and supported, for more than two years, amongst men of great attainments and undoubted abilities, the character of an able and accomplished Teacher. In the profession, to which he last devoted himself, that of medicine, considering the opportunities he had enjoyed, he had made a rapid and unexampled progress; and we hesitate not to say, that had his life been spared and his talents and attention continued steadily and undividedly directed to its duties and objects, he would have stood in an exalted and enviable rank among the members of the Healing Art.
